Most private estates in the Coachella Valley are a venue you rent and leave. At Dupont Estate Resort, three separate houses and 8 bedrooms sit on the same private property. The people at the centre of the day — the wedding party, the crew, the executives, the family — do not go anywhere at the end of the night.

The spaces an event actually uses

Five distinct places to put a part of a day, on one property.

The lawn: The largest single space, in a back yard the owner’s own listing calls fenced-in and private, with the Santa Rosa Mountains directly behind it. Guests have held ceremonies at one end and put the dance floor at the other. Date palms, citrus and bamboo edge it.
Poolside: A 39,000-gallon pool and two jacuzzis, with a shaded cabana and a covered gazebo for people who want out of the sun. The Spa House sits next to the pool and has its own bar.
The lanai: Covered, off the main living room, with panoramic views over the grounds. This is the long-table dinner and the cocktail hour when the sun is still up.
The putting green: Five holes. It is the welcome-party afternoon and the corporate icebreaker, and it is the reason several reviews mention golf without anyone leaving the property.
The fire pit: Outdoor, with seating around it. The end of the night, every review that mentions an evening mentions this.

Catering and kitchens

Two full kitchens — one in the Main House, one in the Guest Lodge — plus a commercial Viking catering oven, an outdoor grill, two bars and a Miele espresso machine. A caterer works inside the property, with a second kitchen for staging, rather than out of a truck in the driveway.
